Here’s a spicy little thought experiment:
If you trip over the same pavement every single day, eventually one of two things will happen:
A) You’ll break your nose (statistically likely)
B) You’ll find a $5, note (also statistically likely).
So let’s talk about luck 🍀
Some people believe in it. Others don’t.
But in truth, it all comes down to exposure. The more times you trip, the higher the odds that something will happen. That’s luck in disguise.
Now, before we go further, I want to be crystal clear:
This is not a subtle sales pitch for why you should start gambling, buy 200 lotto tickets or to glue yourself to a slot machine at Vegas hitting “spin” putting all your hopes and dreams in “fate”
I’m not a fan of gambling—especially the kind where you surrender all control to a machine running on the same logic as your washing machine.
You press “spin,” cross your fingers, and hope for the best while it decides your fate like it’s the Hogwarts Sorting Hat Ceremony
But blackjack? Poker? Games with some form of skill? I’ll give those a pass — because at least you’re involved. You’re calculating, adapting, reacting. You’re not just spinning and praying. That matters.
We can apply the same principle applies to life.
Luck is About Surface Area 📐
In math, it’s length × height.
In life, it’s effort × repetition
Do something once, and your odds of a breakthrough are low.
But if you do it 100 times? or 1000 times?
You’re giving the universe more data to work with.
More dice rolls. More surface area for good things to stick.
If you think about it:
“Lucky” people aren’t special. They’re just those who keep showing up.
They trip on the pavement more often. They bump into more people.
They say yes more often (within reason — don’t start a pyramid scheme).
They basically increase the sample size of life.
It’s Not the TikTok You’ll Remember 📱
Let’s be honest:
A year from now, you’re not going to remember that one funny TikTok that had you giggling in bed at 2AM.
But you will remember that you are not where you said you wanted to be.
You’ll remember the progress you didn’t make.
The newsletter you didn’t start.
The DMs you didn’t send.
The idea you let sit in the drafts folder forever.
Social Media is a Double-Edged Sword ⚔️
You can use it to zone out, or you can use it to zone in — to build connections, share your story, showcase your skills, or even just be a little more visible to the right people.
Networking and putting yourself out there might not bring results overnight, but neither does gym progress, hair growth, or growing a decent beard. You need to keep showing up.
Say Yes More (Even When It’s Awkward)✅
The people who strike “luck” are often the same ones who said “yes” to something they didn’t feel ready for.
“Wanna hop on a Zoom call?” “Wanna try this side project with me?” “Wanna go to this weird event that might be boring but might not?”
99 out of 100 times, you’ll walk away thinking:
“Cool, I did it. Never again.”
But that one time? It might change everything:
Maybe it’s the the domino that knocks over all the others.
It might be the moment you look back on and go, “Wait… that was the start.”
Or perhaps you meet your future business partner. Or your future wife. Or someone who becomes both!
But none of it happens if you stay silent.
AI Is Leveling the Playing Field 🤖
Let’s address the elephant in the room that people don’t like talking about:
Degrees are slowly losing their shine.
AI tools are leveling the playing field faster than Usain Bolt on a downhill
What’s replacing them?
Reputation. Online presence. Social capital.
Not in the clout-chasing sense — but in the real sense of, “Who knows you, what do they associate with your name. Probably most important, do they trust you?”
Not “National Chess Player” on their resume (which, in full honesty, did make a brief cameo on mine)
You’re either building something that the world can see and learning in public, or you’re letting your talents chill quietly in a Google Doc.
Tilt the Odds ⚖️
Most people think luck is this mystical, unreachable force.
But really? It’s just odds.
It’s simple math really:
The more shots you take
The more people you meet
The more times you post
Reach out
Try something
Say yes
— the higher the chances that something great happens.
So in summary, if we want greater things to happen—if we want to get lucky—we need to take chances.
Don’t play it safe.
Don’t sit back waiting.
Be proactive, not reactive.
You don’t have to trip on the pavement every day.
But if you do, at least check your surroundings.
You might find a $5 note.
Or a something better
Your Turn 🏁
What’s something in your life that felt “lucky” — but in hindsight, only happened because you took a chance?
I’d love to hear it.
